On Dreams
Pillars of the Ground questions what physical representation means through the artists deconstruction of the body. The artworks echo the disorienting perspectives and illusive messages of dreams, and capture memory in vivid color and texture.
This body of work questions the reliability of observation, and the shifting consciousness of women of color in America as a mechanism for representation and defense.
The importance of this exhibition is the representation of these dreams and shedding a comedic light on our experience of the suspended rationality.
The body is a pillar supporting the mind and all that comes with a rational existence, While Mali focuses on more organic pillars.
